Société civile des producteurs phonographiques

The SCPP is a society that collects fees due to its members from sound recording and music video users and distributes these fees on its members’ behalf. It has been responsible for the collective administration and protection of record and video producers’ rights since 1985.

More than 1000 producers belong to the SCPP, including many independents and the international majors like Sony BMG, EMI, Warner, Universal.

Responsibilities:

1. Licensing certain uses of sound recordings and music videos belonging to SCPP members’ catalogues.

2. Collecting the fees due to producers from users.

3. Distributing the fees received between producers.

4. Defending members’ rights, notably by lobbying the French and European authorities.

5. Combating music piracy.

6. Supporting musical creation by awarding grants for making sound recordings and music videos, artist education and putting on live performances.

7. Administrating the ISRC code
