THE SCPP'S COLLECTIONS RETURN TO 2019 LEVELS
THE SCPP REPRESENTS MORE THAN TWO-THIRD OF FRENCH INDEPENDENT PRODUCERS
The SCPP today held its Annual General Meeting at the Pavillon Royal. An opportunity to present its key figures for 2022 and its priorities for the second half of 2023. Total collections in 2022 return to 2019 levels. The SCPP is delighted to see more than 40 new members joining every month, bringing the total number of members to 4,234, or more than two-thirds of French independent producers.
1.COLLECTIONS: Total SCPP collections amounted to €86.6M in 2022, up 9% on 2021 (€79.4M) and down slightly by 2% on 2019 (€88.4M). Excluding regularizations of private copy levy collections linked to disputes in principle, collections in 2022 have returned to 2019 levels (€87.2 M vs. €86.9 M).
2. DISTRIBUTIONS: €70.8 million were distributed in 2022, down 17.6% on 2021 (€86 million), mainly due to low collections in 2020 and the presence in 2021 of two years of definitive distributions of private audio copy levies (2018 and 2019).
4. COST OF MANAGEMENT: The cost of management, representing total expenses in relation to current rights collections, without allocation of financial income and without withdrawal from reserves, which is the only reliable criterion for assessing the management of an SPRD, is virtually stable this year. In 2022, it will be 9.4%, down from 10.7% in 2021.
5. GRANTS: 1,218 grants (1,255 in 2021) were awarded for a total of 11,325,636 euros, with 88% of applications receiving a positive response. During the 2022 financial year, the SCPP signed 39 agreements with concert halls, enabling 206 show-cases to be subsidized (228 in 2021). 22 organizations received SCPP subsidies.
